PV recycling has great market potential for sectors that have raw material constraints in terms of both economy and resource recovery based on the prediction that the amount of PV waste will be 78 million tons in 2050. Thus, recycling also aligns with the circular economy goals of the Green Deal. The circular economy policy prioritizes the reduction and reuse of materials before recycling and encourages new business models. Recycling plants with a high potential to be established after scale-up will create new employment areas. Therefore, PV recycling will contribute to the innovation and economic growth headings within the UN Development Goals.
